For if the firstfruit is holy, the
lump is also holy; and if the root is holy, so are the branches. And if some of
the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in
among them, and with them became a partaker of the root and fatness of the
olive tree, do not boast against the branches. But if you do boast, remember
that you do not support the root, but the root supports you. –Romans
11:16-18
My Prayer for Today
Father, I submit myself to You in all
things and in every way. I joyfully acknowledge my total dependence upon You
for salvation, power, and blessing. I know that when I trust the One within, I
never go without. I am now grafted into the tree and have become a partaker of
its root and its fatness. I am as blessed as heaven itself and have within me
all power to do all things. (2 Corinthians 4:7 NLT.) I do not support the root,
but the root supports me.
My
Confession for Today
Jesus is the Vine
and I am a branch of the Vine. ( John 15:5.) If the Vine is holy, I am holy as
well. In this, I do not make an arrogant boast, just a statement of fact. It is
a declaration of my total and complete dependency upon Jesus. It is the Vine
that gives life to the branch. Without Jesus, I am nothing. It is not me who
supports the Vine, but the Vine who supports me.
